Want to show grandparents just how much they mean and how much they’re appreciated but aren’t sure what gift actually says that? I hear you. The answer is gifts for grandparents that come from the heart!

Even if you aren’t a DIY extraordinaire or if your kids are still pretty young and not up for challenging crafts, you can still create heartfelt gifts for grandparents. Really.

From food to self-care, here are some gift ideas for grandparents to inspire you the next time you need a present. (Hint: These work as Grandparents’ Day gifts … and Grandparents’ Day is in September
😉

Edible Gifts for Grandparents

Personally, I think food is an underrated gift. We all have to eat, and for most of us, eating is a social experience. That’s why I wanted to kick off this list of gifts for grandparents with some easy food-related ideas. What’s great about these is that some of them are “gifts in a jar,” so even if you don’t live nearby, you can still give the gift of food by shipping these.

zucchini bread in a jar recipe

1. Zucchini Bread in a Jar – As you’ll see throughout this post, gifts for grandparents don’t have to be complex to be meaningful. Use zucchini from your summer garden or the local farmers’ market to make homemade bread that they can enjoy over several days.

Tip: Want to scale this gift idea up? Pair the bread with local honey, jam, or a herbed butter for a little extra something.

2. Reese’s Pieces Cookies In A Jar – You know what would go great with this gift? Quality time with the grandkids. Yep, when possible, pair this gift of cookies in a jar with time spent with the grandkids making the cookies.

3. M&M Cookies in a Jar – Although this cookie-in-a-jar recipe wasn’t originally intended as a Grandparents’ Day gift, it can easily be updated to suit the occasion. Swap out the ribbon on the jar for something less Easter-oriented, and you’ll be good to go!

4. “I Love You to Pieces” Mason Jar Gift – Pressed for time? If you need gifts for grandparents that come together fast, you’re in the right place! While this gift is quick, it’s still cute and sure to be appreciated.

5. “I Am Nuts About You” Gift – Looking for healthier gifts for grandparents? Look no further. Nuts offer a variety of benefits, including healthy fats and protein.

Outdoorsy Gifts for Grandparents

Nature and outdoorsy gifts for grandparents, such as the examples below, can be an excellent way for them to enjoy some fresh air. These are especially great Grandparents’ Day gifts, as they can enjoy the autumn season before the onset of winter.

Enjoy time outdoors with this free printable nature walk scavenger hunt printable.

6. Nature Walk Scavenger Hunt Printable – At first glance, this may not seem like a great gift for grandparents, but hear me out. This isn’t about the material item, which, after all, is just a piece of paper. Nope, it’s about the experience and the quality time your kids can spend with their grandparents.

7. Cookie Cutter Bird Feeders – Looking for Grandparents’ Day gifts that are easy, useful, homemade, and will occupy some of your kids’ time? That’s a tall order, but look no further! These cute bird feeders are (for the most part) kid-friendly and a great way to bring a variety of birds into the yard.

8. DIY Rustic Succulent Pots – I love gifts for grandparents that allow you to get creative, like this one. Sure, you could paint the whole pot (as shown in the post), or you could let your child decorate it with their handprints or unique artistic vision. You can also get creative with what goes in the pot; there are a variety of succulents to choose from.

9. DIY Tin Can Planters – This gift for grandparents is good for them and for the environment! It allows you to reuse cans that might otherwise end up in a landfill. Plus, did you know that plants have psychological benefits, such as potentially reducing stress and anxiety? It’s true; check out this article on the benefits of plants from Time magazine.

10. Pine Cone Bird Feeders – Here’s another kid-friendly craft option for grandparents who enjoy bird watching and nature.

Paper Crafts and Printable Gifts for Grandparents

When you first think about printables as gifts for grandparents, you may not be overly impressed. However, trust me, they can be really heartfelt and meaningful when you put a bit of yourself (or your kids) into them.

11. Happy Grandparents’ Day Quotes – These super sweet printable quotes make for great Grandparents’ Day gifts. You can let your kids add a few artistic touches and frame them nicely to really up the wow factor.

12. Letter to Mom Printables – Two of the printable letters included in this post are specifically for Grandma/Nana. (And while there isn’t a designated printable for this, you could easily create a letter template for Grandpa as well.) Turn this gift for grandparents into a tradition by having your kids create a letter each year.

13. Heart Bubble Letters – Want to help your kids write their own message as part of their gifts for grandparents? Use these heart bubble letters to spell out words and/or create handmade cards.

14. Heart Template Cut Outs – Ready to get crafty? There are many ways to transform these heart templates into heartfelt gifts for grandparents! You could color them, write messages on each one and add them to a jar where grandparents read one note a day, or do a full-blown craft project like the one shown in the video below.

15. Paper Flower Bouquet – This post contains three paper crafts that are perfect for little hands. The second one is a paper flower bouquet, which I think would definitely be Nana approved!

Coloring Page Gifts for Grandparents

I’m a big fan of coloring, especially for kids. It has health and educational benefits. However, in addition, coloring pages can make great gifts for grandparents.

Consider turning these Grandparents’ Day gifts into an experience where you all spend time together coloring. Print out all the coloring pages below, grab the biggest, most colorful box of crayons or colored pencils you can find, and spend the day together creating works of art.

free printable bookmarks to color

16. Bookmarks to Color – Yep, gifts for grandparents can have form and function. These super useful bookmarks are sure to be a fav once your little Picasso gets through with them!

17. Heart Coloring Pages – If your kids really want to feel like the gift for grandparents is theirs, meaning they made it all by themselves, I get that. Coloring pages can be a great option, especially when children are young and not able to tackle most craft projects without a lot of hand-holding. These heart coloring pages offer some easier options that are perfect for when your kids are still developing their fine motor skills.

18. I Love You Coloring Pages – Coloring pages not only make great gifts for grandparents, but they also make for a healthy way to keep your kids occupied. Coloring has many benefits, including helping to reduce stress and express creativity.

19. Iris Coloring Pages – If your kids want to gift Nana with the most colorful flowers ever, flowers that will never wilt or require water, snag flower coloring pages like these featuring Irises.

20. Tulip Coloring Pages – Here’s another gift for grandparents that will allow your kids (and/or you) to reach for the brightest, most ridiculous crayons in the box. Go ahead, you know you’ve always wanted to use atomic tangerine and razzmatazz!

Self-Care and Sentimental Gifts for Grandparents

You’re never too old for self-care! Gifts for grandparents can help them embrace relaxation and remove harmful ingredients from their routines.

homemade epsom salt bath soak

21. Epsom Salt Bath Soak – Give the gift of relaxation with this bath soak recipe. It’s a great gift for grandparents when you want to acknowledge all the hard work they have done and still do!

22. Peppermint Scented Foot Soak – If baths aren’t really Grandma and Grandpa’s style, you can still help them relax with this scented foot soak recipe. Note that the blue coloring is totally optional.

23. Homemade Shaving Cream – You’re never too old for skin care, right? This gift for grandparents will help Grandpa remove harsh ingredients from his shaving routine.

24. Mani-Pedi in a Jar – This was an idea I originally developed for Mother’s Day. However, I’m willing to bet that Nana wouldn’t mind a little pampering in the form of a mani-pedi experience, so I’m repackaging it as an easy Grandparents’ Day gift.

25. Photo Luminaries – The last item in the list of gifts for grandparents is one of my fav! This project allows you to turn all those special memories into glowing luminaries. While the end result is super special, half the fun is in the reminiscing as you try to pick the perfect photos.
