This means that while you may want to make your family a nutritious breakfast to start the day off right, you simply don’t have the time. Tip: Another trick up my sleeve is the crockpot. Crockpot breakfast recipes that can be started the night before (like banana nut oatmeal) are a lifesaver!

In fact, homemade pancakes reheated are way better than store-bought frozen pancakes or waffles.

How to Freeze Pancakes: Ingredients​


Can you freeze homemade pancakes? Of course, but make sure they’re worth freezing and re-heating! Here are the ingredients to my favorite homemade pancake recipe.

  • 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1-1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoons vanilla extract

*This recipe makes 14 pancakes

How to Freeze Pancakes: Materials​


Can I freeze pancakes? Yep, but make your life easier by having the following handy.

  • Parchment paper
  • Freezer-safe bags or containers
  • Sharpie or labels

How to Freeze Pancakes: Directions​


1. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder, and mix well.

2. Add in egg, milk, butter, and vanilla, and mix well using a hand mixer.

3. Place 2 tablespoons of batter (makes 1 pancake) onto a griddle or pan and cook on each side.

Note: If using a griddle, heat to 275 degrees.

Tip: Don’t flip the pancakes until you start to see bubbles in the batter.

4. Place pancakes on a flat surface to fully cool.

5. Once cool, place a piece of parchment paper between each pancake to prevent sticking.

6. Place homemade pancakes in the freezer for about 5 hours.

7. Once frozen, tightly wrap pancakes or place them in heavy duty freezer bags.

Tip: Be sure to press the air out of the freezer bags.

8. Write the date on the bags with a Sharpie (or use some other labeling method) so you know when these pancakes were frozen.
